Cruise to Lough Key – an adventure awaits!

Lough Key is located close to the lively town of Boyle, in County Roscommon. Like all the lakes on the River Shannon it is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. The name Lough key originates from that of a druid named Cé, who, according to legend died at a battle site. Water burst from his grave and formed the lough we know today as Lough Key. There are over thirty wooded islands dotted around the lake including Castle Island, Stag Island, Bullock Island, and Drumman’s Island where Medieval ruins are scattered among them. The lake is surrounded by 800 acres of park area, Lough Key Forest Park. Within the park there are a number of historical and archaeological points of interest including five ring forts, a Fairy Bridge, a Wishing Chair, Ice House and stables.
