With the new year just around the corner, we took a sneak peak at some River Shannon events that will be taking place in 2016. From fishing competitions & festivals to boat rallies, there is something for everyone on and around the length of the River Shannon.

Lots of festivals take place along the River Shannon’s towns and villages, usually within the Summer & Autumn months. We have info on just a small number but more details will be made available in 2016 on the Discover Ireland and Discover Lough Derg websites.

The two boat rallies that take place along the River Shannon are the Lough Derg Rally and the Shannon Boat Rally. Usually they take place in June /July (2016 dates TBC) with the itinerary changing each year. Although it is mostly boat owners who take part, it is open to hire boats too.
